Smart pool monitor

ICO is a connected service that simplifies pool care and is designed to give pool owners complete control over pool water quality. At the core of ICO service, a smart device that you simply drop into pool. Equipped with several lab-grade sensors, ICO is measuring continuously critical water parameters, performs a dynamic analysis of all those data and provides custom recommendations. Users are directly notified on a dedicated mobile application and advices on best actions.

ICO must be unobtrusive. Our answer: a minimal but intuitive design language. The technical complexity of the product disappears to guide the user with simplicity.

Project

This sleek and rounded shape, perfectly balanced in the water is just the visible part of the iceberg. Behind, a complex technology is operating (accurate measuring, algorithmic calculation, wireless network) and must be easily understood by the user.

Design Process

Invited to join the project at the very beginning, we had the opportunity to work on the architecture of the object and participate in the technical choices to integrate all the constraints to the initial concept. Thanks to a close collaboration with the engineering department, our analysis helped to guide the design and integration of the electronic system. From the creation of the concept to its formalization and development, we accompanied Ondilo in the phases of prototyping and technical development towards industrialization.

Ondilo is a french startup, specialized in outdoor connected devices. Through this project, we participated in defining the brand identity: innovation and high-end product positioning. Started in 2015, our collaboration with Ondilo continues today in the form of an artistic direction (product, packaging, digital and branding).
